One year Executive Program at IIM, Ahemdabad, India.

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad has conceptualised a new one year PGP in Management (PGPX) for executives with substantial work experience. This full time residential program, focussed on developing participants for top management positions is unique in its design. IIM, Ahemdabad expects this program to attract participants from India and abroad and the modular program design includes an international exposure of 5 weeks. Other modules are: Induction Module, Building Blocks (basic courses in management), Preparing for Top Management (specific focus on developing top management competencies), Elective Modules and Capstone Module (integrating the learnings from multi-disciplinary perspective).

The first batch for Executive prog. at IIMA started in April 2006. One year lead time is contemplated to ensure that those admitted get sufficient transition time to move from employment to campus. New, world class academic and residential campus (including limited family accomodation) is getting ready to receive them. IIMA has laisoned with GOI for supporting international participants (clearences, scholarships for select countries) and with banks and corporates/agencies for educational loans and scholarships.

I think this will give oppurtunity to all the working executives to do an MBA from an institute of such a good repute and that too in just one year.....and will suggest that more programs of short duration from IIMs and other institutes of repute should be given a thought, so that working executives can keep themselves upto date academically........helping them to perform better in their workplace.
